THE AEROSPACE INDUSTRY: Helping drive B.C.'s economy

In 2010, Canada's aerospace sector generated over $24 billion and employed nearly 82,000 Canadians. The Canadian aerospace industry bases its success on Canadian expertise, intellectual property and an entrepreneurial spirit. As the 5th largest aerospace country in the world, Canada is a global leader in an increasingly competitive and rapidly growing business sector. It is no surprise that Canada's aerospace industry has been selected by the National Research Council Canada as a key industry for their potential to contribute to Canada's economy.

Join David Schellenberg, vice-chairman of the Aerospace Industries Association of Canada (AIAC) and CEO of Cascade Aerospace Inc. as he discusses the importance of the aerospace industry both nationally and within Metro Vancouver as part of a nation-wide tour.

15 YEARS OF DOING THINGS DIFFERENTLY: A WestJet Success Story

Gregg Saretsky, President and CEO, West Jet

WestJet began service in 1996 flying two old Boeing 737 200s to five cities in Western Canada. Fast forward to today where WestJet's fleet of 91 fuel efficient Boeing 737 Next Generation aircraft are flying to 71 destinations in 13 countries. In an industry that has collectively lost money since the days of the Wright Brothers, WestJet has not only survived, they've thrived. Today, WestJet is among the most profitable airlines in the world.

Having worked at four airlines across North America in his 25 year career in the aviation industry, WestJet President and CEO Gregg Saretsky is in a unique position to share how doing things differently can produce great results. Join Gregg as he shares some of WestJet's different approaches on technology, operations, its guests and most importantly its people and learn more about what WestJet has in store for Vancouver.
